Juvederm Voluma

JUVEDERM VOLUMA

Technical & Chemical Properties

  • Active Composition: Hyaluronic Acid (HA) at a concentration of 20 mg/mL, combined with 0.3% Lidocaine to minimize patient discomfort.

  • Vycross Technology: Utilizing Allergan’s proprietary cross-linking technique, Voluma blends low- and high-molecular-weight HA. This yields a high G-prime (elastic modulus) gel that delivers strong lifting capacity, minimal post-injection water absorption (low swelling), and exceptional resistance to degradation.

Clinical Indications & Longevity

  • Target Areas: FDA-approved for deep injection to correct age-related volume loss in the cheeks/mid-face, augment the chin profile, and fill moderate-to-severe temple hollowing.

  • Duration: It is one of the longest-lasting HA fillers available, with clinical data showing results lasting up to 2 years in the cheeks and up to 1 year in the chin. It remains fully reversible via hyaluronidase injection.

Safety & Side Effects

  • Common Reactions: Expect mild-to-moderate localized tenderness, swelling, firmness, bruising, or lumps at the injection site, which typically resolve spontaneously within 2 to 4 weeks.

  • Critical Warning: Accurate anatomical placement by a qualified medical professional is mandatory. Accidental intravascular injection poses a severe risk of vascular occlusion, which can lead to localized tissue necrosis or permanent vision loss.
